So I was VERY disappointed to receive ORANGE rather than GRAPE. Nowhere in the description did it say "flavors may be substituted". Called the 800 number listed on Amazon to complain about flavor substitution, and received great customer service: they will send Grape Floss immediately. There was a problem with the product boxes, which caused the error in filling the orders. Our Nostalgia Electrics machine makes superb cotton candy using Life Savers but we wanted to make fast, classic cotton candy cones for a small party so we tried this kit. On the upside, the single use paper cones are adequate and the blue raspberry flavor is similar (although inferior) to blue cotton candy found at fairs. The grape flavor was also okay but the cherry flavor had a distinct bitter flavor and one bite was more than enough for both of my kids. We were surprised to find out that Life Savers are actually easier and faster to use than this floss sugar because they melt on contact and produce small but fluffy cones. In contrast, most of this floss sugar ended up stuck to the sides of the spinning disc before it could melt and I had to turn the machine off and on several times just to produce a single cone. I'd give this set a higher rating if I didn't have a cheaper, easier, more delicious alternative. However, given that we won't be using the floss, $20 is a lot to pay... Read more |
