The ones I remember are: a gigantic wooden set where the tools were heavy, awkward, and the wood was rotting and worn. The 2nd set was worse: we got metal but it had so many joints that recently it fell apart while grilling! So I was in the market for a good brand, all metal SOLID construction (no seams), dishwasher safe, and lastly and least important attractive isn't bad. I searched local stores and they had so little stock, mostly wood sets which I wanted to avoid.I was impressed when I opened the Amazon box. Quality thick metal, attractive, looked long & large and perfect for hot grills. My husband's very impressed and said grilling with them was 'perfect'. You can't see it in the picture very well but there's a non-slip coating on the bottom of each tool, which is nice (as long as it doesn't fall apart.) The tongs are really where it is at, the other tools don't really matter as much. Some tongs aren't spring loaded unlike these which are and don't open very far, maybe far enough to grab a chicken leg, but that is it. These tongs will open to the width of a pork chop and the thing that I like most is the actual gripping surface, the jaws are nice and smooth so they will not tear skin! If your thinking that this set is too expensive at least buy the tongs individually, well worth it.
